Like many 30-year-olds, I finally reached the age where I had to buy a guitar. My search for a cheap secondhand instrument began on the internet where I expected to find multiple shops near me, but there was just one.
Ted's Music Shop, a small shop tucked next to the Peabody Institute was my only option. I looked on their website, they didn't have one, I looked on their Facebook, it hadn't been updated for years, their Instagram didn't exist.
As a millennial, cold calling the Ted's was out of the question, but I did the next worst thing, I visited without knowing what to expect. What I found was a shop filled with weird, old, and obscure instruments, but I left with a used Japanese guitar from the 1970s.
After buying the guitar, I asked the owner, Fernando, if I could manage their social media for the next several to see if it could drive more business. Fernando skeptically agreed.
I have since created a website for Teds as well as an Instagram page where I regularly post new instruments and advertisements about the shop.
As for the Facebook? We'll get started once we find the login details.
